LG is taking appliances to the next level. We just did a report on how smart appliances are underused by many consumers today. They buy them, and some hook them up, but if they become disconnected for some reason, they never bother to reconnect the appliance to the internet to take advantage of all of the smart features. I am here to tell you that if you buy the LG signature and shell out more than $7,000 for this fridge, you are going to want to use every feature available.
Can an Appliance Be Sexy?
I happened by one of these in a showroom recently and I have to tell you, I have not slammed on the brakes to look at something like that since I was a 16-year-old on the beach! Can we call an appliance sexy? If we can, this sure fits the bill.
One of the most underrated features of this fridge is the “Auto Open Door†feature of the fridge. All you need to do is swipe your foot under the sensor and the door gently opens. Now, before you tell me that is a wasted feature, you have clearly never stood before the fridge with two hands full of groceries or Tupperware that needed to be put away.
I remember being a kid and opening up the fridge and staring inside for an eternity before taking out what I wanted. My father was ahead of his time on this one because it got so bad, and my father got so sick and tired of yelling at us for wasting energy by leaving the fridge open, he actually started to take a Polaroid of what was in the fridge and tape it to the door outside. I can still hear his voice… “look at the picture, decide what you want, open the fridge, take it, and SHUT THE DOOR!â€
Well, LG’s new signature line has a see-through window where you can see inside the fridge without actually opening it up. Your food stays fresh longer and the electric bill goes down… this is a win-win for everyone.
